This is an interesting thing. People say make these sorts of statements and I think they are misleading.
God will NEVER abandon you, so we can have our ultimate hope and joy in him always. But because we can’t always/ever really understand him and we frequently don’t know what the heck he is doing and because we have our own fleshly desires and goals… he doesn’t want to hurt us, but if hurting can bring us to wholeness, he will allow it. it can seem like he fails us—because he isn’t doing what WE want. And he can disappoint my little selfish wants—or even good things that I want, he may not have in mind, so I can be disappointed.
It’s important not to tell people it will always be rosy once you know and love God. The immediate right now can still be disappointing and painful and seem to be falling apart.
But ultimately, God is the only one that will never turn his back on us. He will always BE.
