I AM a Shiny Penny

I was just talking about this with a customer at work, not in regards to art specifically, but still. In response to my claim that you may actually want to get up and go to work if you’ve taken the time to find a job that is fulfilling and actually something you enjoy doing, he claimed that if you enjoyed doing it, no one would have to pay you to do it.
My response is pretty adeptly summed up in this image. “It may be something I am thrilled to do, but I still have to pay bills, you know? Just because I have been lucky enough/persistent enough to find a job I like doing doesn’t mean I should do it for free if someone is willing to pay me for it. We all have to make a living somehow; why do we assume that that always means doing something miserable?”
