I AM a Shiny Penny

Bear in mind that I don’t actually view “liberated sexuality” as a good thing (I legitimately believe we were intended to have sexual intimacy with one person, and that it will be ultimately better with the person we’ve committed to getting through anything and everything with.) THAT SAID…

This is a fantastic article about the depiction of women in comics. It’s specifically aimed at a new reboot of Starfire and Catwoman that DC comics has released recently, but its a solid read on the whole world of it.

One of my favorite bits (and no, I don’t believe that all guys want women to be mindless sex crazed bimbos. Remember, they’re writing with a particular niche audience/readership in mind here):

“These aren’t women. They’re how dudes want to imagine those women would be — what Wire creator David Simon called writing “men with t*ts.” They read like men’s voices coming out of women’s faces. Or worse, they read like the straight girls who make out with each other at clubs, not because they enjoy making out with women but because they desperately want guys to pay attention to them.”
